Poker Face
Directed by Audrey Erickson, Poker Face (2024) is my senior capstone project.
My thesis for this project was focused on achieving the uncanny valley for the doll's face through 3D modelling. I learned about the basic feature points of the face, the constraints that make a face model look plausible, and the way reference limitation affects how accurately an appearance can be translated into a 3D model. By understanding the boundaries of plausible design, I knew the right way to override them and achieve the uncanny valley.
In addition to modeling the doll, my other roles in this project included modeling a few props, choosing what textures to apply to everything, and animating some of the shots. We created keyframes for the key poses and then added in-betweens without the use of splining to achieve a stop-motion feel.
